Great value for the guitar, nicely built and working fine, well sounding and wide spectrum of sound configuration with the HSS combination. No notes out of tune along the arm. Tremolo works well, tuners are trickier than others i have on guitars, but good enough.
On a fresh and first impressions, an excellent guitar considerer it's price range

Amazing experience - from the order placement to playing the instrument.

A very well made guitar for the price, I am happy with it. The overall impression is great, the setup almost perfect, just an action adjustment needed. The pickups are a little week sounding, but adequate. Altogether a brilliant guitar for the money,
Thank you Donner!

Glad I ordered one! Great value. Better build and quality than many, including most squires. Recommended.

It's truly amazing that an instrument in this price range comes with such excellent quality.

I own guitars that cost two and even three times more than the DST‑550, and none of them arrived as well set up straight out of the box. The action was spot‑on, the roasted neck feels genuinely premium, and overall the instrument gives a far more expensive impression. All it needed was a minor truss‑rod tweak and a quick intonation adjustment. Beyond that, I honestly can’t find anything to complain about — it’s an impressive guitar for the price.

The roasted maple neck offers excellent stability, and the playability is smooth and effortless. The unique double-cut design and ThunderForge pickups provide rich and clear tones. The new string locking system ensures tuning stability, even during long sessions.

This beautiful guitar holds tune better than any other guitar I've owned thus far, and I've owned epiphone, fender, and various acoustic guitars. Not only that, it's a breeze to play. The fretboard is beautiful and my fingers can glide across the strings quickly because, with this guitar, you can lower your action down without any fret buzz whatsoever. I have zero complaints. It came already intonated and set up, requiring zero adjustments. I couldn't be happier. This guitar is amazing. Not even for the money. it's just flat out amazing, period.

As a singer, tone is everything to me. The DST-550’s tone is absolutely stunning! The lows are deep and powerful, the mids are warm and clear, and the highs are bright without being harsh. Whether I'm practicing or performing, every note is captured with precision. I especially love the 7-tone selection system—it easily switches from classic single-coil tones to modern high-gain sounds, which match my vocals perfectly. Every note feels so full and vibrant, it truly enhances my performance!

The DST-550 offers fantastic value for the price. I’ve played a few other guitars before, but this one stands out in terms of tone and build quality. The poplar body offers a well-balanced sound, and the pickups really bring out the clarity, especially in the high end. I love the 7-tone selector, which gives me plenty of tonal options. The neck is incredibly stable, and the roasted maple finish is a nice touch. With the locking tuners, tuning stays stable, and I don’t have to constantly readjust. Definitely worth the investment.

This guitar came well packaged. The outer box holding the guitar was partially coming apart, being held by only one piece of tape. But the guitar itself was inside its gig bag and a foam bag and was unharmed. The sparkle paint job is great. The guitar weighted 7.3 pounds.
1. Gig bag - cloth with some padding. Not a top quality bag, but good enough in a pinch.
2. The tuners are locking and work well.
3. String trees are cheap Squier quality - and this is my only negative comment on the guitar.
4. Bone nut - cut well enough that the first fretted notes are exactly on pitch. Width 42mm.
5. The neck is a comfortable C-carve and well finished. Appears to be roasted maple.
6. The fret work is as good as I've seen on any high end guitar. Frets are perfectly level and crowned and polished.
7. Spoke wheel truss rod at the heel. I like this mechanism better than at the headstock.
8. Comfort cuts on the body: arm carve, belly carve, well done heel access cut. I can easily reach all the frets when playing.
9. The pickups are ceramic. SSH configuration. Swimming pool rout.
10. The pots are unmarked. The work smoothly. Five way switch is solid with no side to side movement, but a clear thunk when in each position. Very well done. There is a coil split switch for the humbucker, giving you seven different positions to play in.
11. The bridge is solid with good saddles and a tremolo block that is chunky. Very good for the price point and higher.
12. The back cavity cover is three ply, just like the pick guard. And it has openings to feed the strings through and to adjust the claw, as you can see in photo three.
13. Push in tremolo with a hex key adjustment. Set it to the right tightness and it will stay exactly where you put it.
14. The ceramic pickups sound great. I played them clean and with dirt at high volume with no complaints. The coil split works well.
Overall, this guitar is a keeper. I played it for hours and came back the next day, and I simply could not knock it out of tune. I hit the tremolo pretty hard and still in tune. As far as comfort, sound and tuning stability, you will not find a better guitar at this 290 dollar price point. Highly recommended.
